FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS... ABOUT ARCH STEEL BUIDLDINGS
What's the difference between the styles of buildings?
The "A" Series is a more traditional styled building. It has straight side walls and a pitched roof. We manufacture the "A" building in spans of 16' to 30' wide. This is an ideal building for garage, workshop and storage. We also manufacture a "high profile" model which will accommodate an oversize door. The high profile "A" Series is perfect for RV, Camper, Boat storage. Visit the "A" Model Gallery.
The "S" Series has a straight side wall and a dome shaped roof. We manufacture the "S" Series building in spans of 20' to 50' wide. Generally, if you are in a very heavy snow/wind load area, the "S" Series will be a stronger building. The "S" Series also comes in a high profile model. Visit the "S" Model Gallery.
The "Q" Series is the traditional "q-style Hut" that is completely half moon shaped. It is perfect for hay storage or other applications where side clearance is not that important. This is one of the strongest buildings on the market today. There's a reason the military has been using these buildings for years! Visit the "Q" Model Gallery.
What About the Foundation?
Our buildings are engineered to fit in a "key-way channel" that is either formed into your monolithic concrete slab or your free-floating footer system. You do not need to pour a slab. An economical footer system may be an option for you. Basically, it's 18" wide, and 16" deep. You simply form out the channel 3½ " deep by 9" wide. Stand up your arches in the channel, and then go back in and grout the channel at a 1" slope (inside and outside) and "presto!" your building is anchored to your foundation. That's right, no drilling into concrete, no lag bolts.no hassle.
Are your buildings "turnkey" or will I have to build it myself?
Our buildings are "do-it yourself" buildings. With easy nuts & bolts construction, and depending on the size of your building, you should be able to erect your building within a few days. You don't need any special tools, just an impact wrench to bolt the arches together. I can do it, so can you!
Is Galvalume Steel really that much better than galvanized sheet metal?
ABSOLUTELY! It really is. The Galvalume Steel that we use is first quality American Steel (not imported lower grade quality). The Galvalume has an aluminum-silicon-zinc alloy that is applied to the steel with a continuous hot dip process. This gives the steel a light dove gray sheen that carries a steel-mill backed guarantee for 25 years against rust and corrosion.
Why don't your buildings come with end walls?
A couple of reasons. One is that most people like to customize the look of their buildings by adding vinyl or wood siding to the front and rear of their buildings. The other is that the end walls are "non-load bearing" walls. They don't support the building at all, so you can really save money by framing in your own end walls. Click here more more on endwalls.
